Our Editorial Lens
Buzzgallerybulletinre (buzzgallerybulletinre.com) is an independent critical publication dedicated to contemporary photography exhibitions, emerging visual artists, documentary ethics, and spatial installation design. We write for curious gallery visitors, working photographers, students of visual culture, and independent curators who want more than recycled press releases or generic calendar listings.
1. Why We Lead With What Is on the Walls
Too much writing about photography treats the physical exhibition as an afterthought—discussing the subject matter of the pictures as if they were floating in digital space rather than mounted at a specific height, printed on a specific paper stock, and sequenced across a specific architectural room. Our criticism begins in the viewing room itself. We ask:
- How does the scale and glazing of a print alter the physical distance between viewer and subject?
- What happens in the silent interval between two adjacent frames?
- How do wall captions, archival vitrines, and room lighting clarify or obscure the ethical conditions under which a photograph was made?
2. Separating Reported Fact from Critical Interpretation
Readers deserve to know where verifiable documentation ends and a critic's reading begins. Across our features and dispatches, we explicitly distinguish:
- Reported Exhibition Facts: Institutional histories, verified exhibition dates, darkroom and digital printing processes, framing specifications, and cited scholarship. We never invent artist names, works, or unverified opening dates.
- Editorial Interpretation: Our critical assessment of how curatorial choices, sequencing, and installation architecture shape meaning for the viewer.
3. Editorial Independence & Corrections Policy
Buzzgallerybulletinre is independently operated by Buzz Gallery Bulletin Editorial Ltd in London. We do not publish paid "advertorial" exhibition reviews, nor do we accept fees from commercial galleries in exchange for artist profile coverage. When factual inaccuracies regarding print mediums, archival credits, or institutional provenance are brought to our attention, we investigate promptly and append a dated correction note.
